Landon Turner, a former Indiana University basketball star whose career was cut short by a crash that left him paralyzed from the chest down, shared some words of wisdom Thursday with Jefferson Middle School students.

Turner, who played for former coach Bob Knight and won an NCAA title with the Hoosiers in 1981, spoke to a few dozen students about staying positive through life's trials.

Turner spent five months in the hospital after the July 1981 auto crash left him paralyzed from the chest down. He graduated from IU in 1984 and is now a motivational speaker and author.
