An Elkhart man was injured when a jammed cartridge in his rifle discharged.
Indiana Conservation Officers were called at 5 p.m. Friday at the range on Tri-County Fish & Wildlife property in Kosciusko County to investigate a firearm incident, according to a Department of Natural Resources news release. Joey Douglas, 26, was injured during target shooting when he tried to chamber a cartridge into the barrel of his rifle that is believed to have been obstructed by another cartridge. The obstructing cartridge discharged resulting in injuries to his wrist and hand. He was taken to Goshen Hospital.
