Blue Devil guard lights up Spartans for 29 in victory

Saturday, March 30, 2013 - 12:54 am

Duke senior guard Seth Curry exploded for 29 points in the Blue Devils' victory over Michigan State on Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo and guard Keith Appling spoke with the media following the game about the Duke player.

Tom Izzo on Seth Curry:

"Curry hurt us, no question about it, and that's why he's a great player.

"I thought Curry did a great job of coming off those screens. He stops, he pops.

But got him to the line and he made those 3s (6 of 9). We got a little hesitant on how to guard him and he did the job on Harris.

"I think Harris is one of the best defenders and this night, Curry goes for 8 for 17, which isn't off the charts, but the 6 for 9 (3-pointers) and 7 of 7 from the line. There's no doubt he single-handedly beat us.

"Curry is a fifth-year senior and he's very wise. He knows how to come off things. He knows how to get open. And I think our freshmen got a little lesson tonight."

Keith Appling on Seth Curry:

"He just made shots. Simple as that. The plays they ran for him were just right, and he came up hard and just knocked the shots down. That made it tough for us the whole game."
