A South Bend man was airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center on Tuesday morning after his car crashed in Noble County.

Noble County Sheriff's deputies report that Richard Esmont, 42, was trapped inside his 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser after it ran off the southeast side of U.S. 33. The sheriff's department reported that the Cruiser rolled at least once in the wreck. It came to rest on the driver's side, and Esmont could not get out until firefighters freed him. After the wreck, Esmont had cuts on his face and complained of pain in his chest.

As of midmorning Tuesday, personnel at the Sheriff's Department did not know Esmont's condition.
