The Rant is The News-Sentinel's anonymous sound-off forum. The readers' views expressed here do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of The News-Sentinel. We will never stop the violence if prison is the only punishment. We need public executions.

The only thing that is going to stop the violence is parents doing their job raising kids who know the difference between right and wrong. Parents who teach their kids how to solve a problem and not just shoot someone because they looked at you the wrong way. Parents who take away movies and games that are violent. Raising kids to become responsible citizens. Parents who set curfews and have rules for kids to follow. … Parents who know where their kids are and who they are with.

In light of the tragedy in Ohio, I think parents need to educate their daughters to make good decisions. Don't drink yourself into a drunken stupor so people with no morals can take advantage of you without your knowledge. Take a buddy with you and never leave their side. Watch out for each other. Take your own pop or water with a lid, and never set it down. Girls, you have to protect yourselves.

Simple logic, mayor. Fund all basic services taxpayers have rightly expected you to provide with their tax dollars. After that, yes, after that, you can consider all the frills and discretionary spending. If the money is short, you wait until dollars are there to do anything else. You don't talk tax increases or cutting public safety.

Hope everyone was able to see the documentary “Hubris: The Selling of the Iraq War!” (If not — read the book.) Former President George Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney and all their cohorts should be prosecuted for lying to Americans.

If drugs, domestic violence and gangs are causing most of the problems, why doesn't the city, prosecutor and courts adopt zero tolerance against them? Whatever their current policy is does not appear to be very effective. Get serious or get out of the way.

The Lord defined marriage a long time ago. Therefore it is foolish to try to change what he said. While we are free to do as we wish, he tells us that we are not free from the consequences. So, who do you want to obey?

If Tony Stewart and Joey Logano restart positions were reversed, Stewart would have done just what Logano did, so shut up, Stewart!

Snowstorm at March's close global warming? Bah humbug.

How can anyone who says “my religion is the one true religion, and all others are false” ever be taken seriously about anything?

Fort Wayne politicians would rather spend our “Legacy” money on their pet projects and raise our taxes. We, as taxpayers, can spend our money as well as they do, and don't have to pay consultants first to find ways to waste the money!

Why is it these Realtors use pictures from 30 and 40 years ago? Some of the hairstyles in the pictures make it obvious. I wish these people thought better of themselves and would get up-to-date photos.

Even if the National Guard has to be brought to patrol this city to catch, arrest and confiscate the guns of violent and armed criminals, the violence and murders must stop! If you abuse your right to own a gun, you should lose that right indefinitely. They're for protection, not victimization.
