Robbers kidnap credit union employee, force her to return to workplace

Thursday, April 4, 2013 - 12:27 am

Fort Wayne Police are investigating a report that a Pinnacle Credit Union employee was forced back to the institution by two robbers.

Police were called at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday to the credit union, 3425 Hobson Road. There, the woman inside the credit union told officers that as she arrived home at around 5:15 p.m., she was met by a male who was armed with a handgun and forced her inside her residence, according to FWPD spokesman John Chambers. Inside, the attacker tied the employee's hands and told her that he was going to drive with her later in the evening to the bank. While at the residence, a relative of the employee arrived and was also restrained by the attacker. Soon a male accomplice arrived at the residence.

At around 9 p.m., the attackers drove the employee and her relative to the Pinnacle Credit Union. As they arrived at the credit union, one robber stayed in the vehicle with the relative while the other went into the bank with the employee, according to Chambers. The attackers then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police do not have any suspect information at this time. There were no injuries to the employee or her relative.

This incident is under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department's Bank Robbery Task Force and the Allen County prosecutors office.

Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne's emergency alert system notified staff and students of the crime.
