JEFFERSONVILLE — A former assistant soccer coach at a Kentucky high school says he's innocent of charges he molested a 13-year-old Indiana girl.

Gary Tanner pleaded not guilty to a charge of child molestation Thursday in a court in Jefferson County, Ind. Tanners formerly helped coach Ballard High School's boys soccer team. If convicted, Tanner could be sentenced to up to 50 years in prison.

Clark County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jeremy Mull tells The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Ky., the girl is now 15. Mull says the girl told a school counselor, who then reported it to the Indiana Department of Child Services in November.

Court records say Tanner allegedly abused the girl repeatedly at his home and in Kentucky.

Trial is Sept. 25.

Tanner couldn't be reached for comment Saturday.
