Monday, April 8, 2013 - 10:40 am

Fort Wayne Police have charged an 18-year-old man with a teen's Wednesday afternoon shooting death.

Deadrian C. Boykins of Fort Wayne, was found Friday evening by the Fort Wayne Police Department's Gang Unit, according to police spokeswoman Raquel Foster. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Allen County Jail. He faces a preliminary charge of aggravated battery.

Boykins is charged in connection with the death of Elijah O. Freeman, 17, of Fort Wayne, who was chased into the backyard of a home in the 900 block of Hugh Street at 12:32 p.m. Wednesday and gunned down. He died before medics arrived.

Freeman's death remains under investigation with the FWPD, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office, and the Allen County Coroner's Office.
