Spencerville teen killed in DeKalb County dirt bike accident

A Spencerville teen is dead after crashing his dirt bike in Butler.

At 5:27 p.m. Sunday, DeKalb County 911 received a call of an unresponsive person at Tri-State Motorcycle Club, 3443 County Road 63, Butler, according to a Department of Natural Resources news release. Tyler D. Cook, 16, was operating a Honda CR 250 dirt bike on the motocross track when, according to witnesses, he crashed after a jump attempt. He was unresponsive. CPR was administered by Butler Police Department Officer Casey Kintz and continued by DeKalb EMS medics.

Cook was taken to DeKalb Memorial Hospital with a possible neck injury and was later pronounced dead by hospital staff.

Indiana Conservation Officer’s were assisted on scene by Butler Police Department, Butler Fire Department, DeKalb County EMS, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, and DeKalb County Coroner’s Office.
