A preliminary plea of not guilty was entered in Allen Superior Court on Wednesday for a 26-year-old Fort Wayne man accused of murder.Ronald Williams is charged in the March 15 killing of Mark B. Young, 25. Police officers responding to a report of shots fired in the 3400 block of Reed Street found Young lying in the 3300 block of Reed. Young appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds, and he was judged by medics to be in critical condition when he was taken to a hospital.

According to court documents, police tracked down Williams through a chain of witnesses and known associations. Multiple accounts together sketched a picture of Williams and Young both losing their tempers and having a very heated quarrel shortly before Young was shot and killed. Police say the argument ended with Young dead because Williams was armed, pulled a revolver on Young and shot him several times.

The next court action in the case against Williams is scheduled for April 24, when a date for his Allen Superior Court trial will be set.

The investigation is ongoing with the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office and the Allen County Coroner's Office.
