TV Diary: Get ready for the season finales

May sweeps is upon us, and season finales will appear for the next month on all major networks. Sweeps start Thursday and end May 22.Nielsen Media Research gathers sweeps ratings data, which dictates local advertising rates.

November, February, May and July are the four official sweeps rating periods, but Nielsen also collects viewer data in mid-size markets during October, January and March, as well as releases weekly ratings.

Here is CBS's finale schedule.

Sunday: “The Good Wife” at 9 p.m.

May 5: “The Amazing Race” (two-hour finale) at 8 p.m. and “The Mentalist” at 10 p.m.

May 9: “Two and a Half Men” at 8:30 p.m. and “Person of Interest” at 9 p.m.

May 10: “Vegas” at 9 p.m. and “Blue Bloods” at 10 p.m.

May 12: “Survivor: Caramoan” (two-hour finale) at 8 p.m., with a reunion show afterward at 10 p.m.

May 13: “How I Met Your Mother” at 8 p.m. and “2 Broke Girls” at 9 p.m.

May 14: “NCIS” at 8 p.m., “NCIS: Los Angeles” at 9 p.m. and “Golden Boy” at 10 p.m.

May 15: “CSI” at 10 p.m.

May 16: “The Big Bang Theory” at 8 p.m. and “Elementary” (two-hour finale) at 9 p.m.

May 17: “Undercover Boss” at 8 p.m.

May 20: “Rules of Engagement” at 8:30 p.m., “Mike & Molly” at 9:30 p.m. and “Hawaii Five-O” at 10 p.m.

May 22: “Criminal Minds” ends sweeps with a two-hour finale at 9 p.m.
