Tapas are a wide variety of appetizers and snacks, originating from Spanish culture, which are often combined to serve as a full meal. The menu will feature mussel and crawfish chowder, tapenade on crostini with pickled vegetables, bacon-wrapped pheasant tenders, pork and mushroom pot stickers, shepherd's pie, and Caesar salad with black-bread croutons.
Dinners are open to the public, but reservations are required. The dinners are served on Ivy Tech's Coliseum campus, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd., in the Anthony Commons (enter door 50 on the south side of the building). Cost is $20 per person, cash or check only. Beer and wine are available for an extra cost.
Call the Special Cuisines line at 480-2002 at least 24 hours in advance to make a reservation. Upon calling the hotline, guests will receive a confirmation number, which they must present upon arrival.Calhoun Street Soups Salads and Spirits, 1915 S. Calhoun St., is hosting May Fest from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Live music, an art show and sale, and a silent auction will take place, with proceeds benefiting the 98 big cats, primates, reptiles, bears, birds, and other former “pets” and retired performers living out the rest of their lives at the nonprofit Black Pine Animal Sanctuary in Albion.
Local musical acts scheduled to perform include Distractions, Honey Badger, David Todoran, and Little Logan and the Insta-Gators. The event is open to all ages. A $10 cover charge will apply, and a cash bar and menu offerings will be available.
