Garrett on verge of leaving ACAC for NECC

Railroaders board to meet this month

Friday, May 3, 2013 - 3:36 am

Following a recent request by Garrett High School to join the North East Corner Conference, the league's principals and athletic directors met Thursday to consider the request and it appears that the Railroaders will soon be among new competition.

"Having received the required affirmative votes outlined in it's by-laws, the NECC extended an invitation to Garrett for membership in the conference pending approval by the Garrett Board of Education later this month," a statement read issued by the NECC.

Garrett has been a member of the Allen County Athletic Conference, but is seeking to join NECC members, which include Angola, Central Noble, Churubusco, Eastside, Fairfield, Fremont, Hamilton, Lakeland, Prairie Heights, West Noble and Westview.

The Garrett Community School Board will meet on May 20, with joining the NECC as an agenda item. The Railroader administration will meet with the ACAC officials later this month to discuss the logistics of their leaving.
