Saturday, May 11, 2013 - 8:08 am

An 8-month-old boy was killed as a result of a one-vehicle crash early this morning in Noble County.

According to the Noble County Sheriff's Department, a 2000 Pontiac Montana was westbound on County Road 900N around 2:34 a.m. where it drove through a curve, slid sideways, and then crashed into a tree on the rear-passenger side of the vehicle.

The driver, Angelica Ibarra, 39, of Ligonier, was not injured in the crash. However, five children in the vehicle all sustained some type of injury from the collision, including:

•Erika Ibarra, 10, facial injuries

•Jose Ibarra, 9, head injuries

•Ivan Ibarra, 8, stomach injuries

•Gerardo Ibarra, 14, neck pain

Jose Ibarra was ejected from the vehicle and taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center, while Gael Ibarra, 8 months, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Angelica Ibarra was cited for never being a licensed operator, driving at a speed too fast to avoid collision, and child seat violations.
