Letter to the editor: Don't forget, people died in Benghazi

Thursday, June 6, 2013 - 12:01 am

There have been three recent scandals involving government agencies: the Justice Department investigating (casting a broad fishnet over) reporters who revealed some foreign intelligence information before the president could take credit for it; the Internal Revenue Service giving special attention (harassment) to conservative political groups; the State Department failing to protect the mission in Benghazi and egregiously lying about it.

However, there is one special fact about one of these that has been largely ignored: People died in Benghazi. This elevates Benghazi from malfeasance to criminal negligence. It calls for a criminal investigation and jail time for the guilty and for the superiors that let it happen.

As for the other events, fire or impeach the guilty and try to find some ethical politicians. (Good luck with that.)
