Cromwell boy dies after being pulled from Bixler Lake

Monday, June 17, 2013 - 3:40 pm

A 5-year-old boy died Sunday after he was pulled from a northeast Indiana lake late Saturday afternoon.

The Allen County Coroner's Office said Dominic D. Slone-Lehman of Cromwell was found unresponsive in the water at Bixler Lake in Kendallville about 5 p.m. Saturday. He was flown from a hospital in the region to Parkview Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:27 p.m. Sunday.

The coroner's office said the death was accidental and was caused by anoxic brain injury due to asphyxia due to drowning.

The Kendallville Police Department and the Department of Natural Resources are continuing their investigation.
