A great one is moving on. Deputy Fort Wayne Police Chief Dottie Davis, who is nothing less than a heroine to everyone in the mental health community in Fort Wayne, is retiring. Dottie is our friend, advocate, counselor, hand-holder, cheerleader and initiator for CIT police training. As Director of Training for the FWPD, she took a critical leading role in implementing humane and compassionate tactics for police officers to utilize in mental health emergencies. On Dottie's watch persons having psychiatric crises received treatment rather than arrest. Dottie, as you move on to your new position as Director of Security for Fort Wayne Community Schools, all of your friends at NAMI Fort Wayne wish you nothing less than success, and we hope that we have many more years of both assisting you in your efforts and having you as an advocate.

Mike Meyers
