The Rant is The News-Sentinel's anonymous sound-off forum. The readers' views expressed here do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of The News-Sentinel. How can cash-strapped EACS (East Allen County Schools) spend money on GPS units for their buses, along with the ongoing expenses? Maybe they should save the money and give their drivers a small raise.

To the person commenting about the Auburn/Cook roads improvements. I traveled it the other day. I saw the “No turn on red” sign at Auburn and Clinton. I believe it also said “when children are present,” so there shouldn't be too many instances when traffic will back up.

I work at a supermarket that has a busy and congested lot. You can make our job easier by returning your carts to the corrals and not leaving trash in the carts. Please stop at the stop signs and drive slowly. Watch out for those bringing in carts.

Unless we hire an appraisal company of our own, how do we know the assessor is assessing our property correctly. Seems to me someone needs to randomly verify the correctness of the numbers we are given.

In protecting our religious rights, we should follow the example of Peter and Paul . They were able to overcome every trial because “their trust was not based on human resources but on the grace of the Lord, who delivers his friends from every evil and saves them for his kingdom. Obtain for us that missionary zeal that made them witnesses of Christ to the ends of the then-known world.” (blessed John-Paul)

I wonder how many councilmen have to live with the weeklong fireworks (and that's just the legal time). Our holiday is only one day long, so should be the celebrating. It's a public annoyance and disturbance and shows the mentality of the lawmakers. Please fix this for next year.

I go to a FWCS (Fort Wayne Community Schools) high school on the south edge of Fort Wayne. I can't tell you how many times a day I hear racial epitaphs, and they always come from the black students talking to each other. … I read about civil rights leaders in the city saying their kids have to endure it at school. Not (only) from other races.

To Dan Coats, Marlin Stutzman … (and the vast majority of the GOP): If “marriage” is a religious institution sanctioned by God, then what do you call it when a couple has their ceremony performed by a non-religious person, such as the Justice of Peace? Are they “married”? Your definition confuses me.

Well, another storm leads to another power outage, which leads to another idiot not treating an unpowered stoplight like a four-way stop. It's in the driver's manual, for pity's sake. Perhaps some drivers need to go back through and read it again.

Fort Wayne's gang of six! Our City Council would rather raise income tax on a couple of hundred-thousand workers in Allen County than curb their “Unnecessary, ego-spending projects.” Remember them next election!

How many of all those who are throwing stones at Paula Deen claim to be disciples of Christ Jesus? Those are the ones who need to re-read the Bible.
