Fort Wayne man accused of fondling 6-year-old

Friday, July 12, 2013 - 12:01 am

A 21-year-old Fort Wayne man faces a charge of child molesting, a Class C felony, because he allegedly groped a 6-year-old girl.

According to documents filed in Allen Superior Court, Joshua J. Vasquez, of the 2900 block of Taylor Street, allegedly touched and rubbed the girl's genitals and bottom when he and the victim were alone once. The information submitted in support of the charge said the fondling happened in 2011 or early 2012.

The investigation began earlier this year, after the girl told her father and later a Fort Wayne Police officer about the alleged abuse. The probable-cause affidavit filed with the charge said that after he was questioned by police, Vasquez sent a series of pleading text messages to the girl's father.

Police said they retrieved the messages, and the court filing included what were presented as some of the texts the accused molester sent to the girl's father:

“Sorry please hear me out”

“Hey please drop the charges it was 2 years ago I regreted it ever since I did it. please forgive me. don't do this.”

“Please don't ruin my life.”

“Please my life has had enough troubles already.”
