LEGO Building Challenge voting period end draws near

26 entries compete at Community Center

Wednesday, July 17, 2013 - 7:26 am

The Creative Building LEGO Challenge entries will be on display through 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Community Center, 233 W. Main St.

Twenty-six teams started with the same 200-piece LEGO set Friday at the center and were given the prompt to construct a scene around the theme “Find It In the Park.” The event is part of Fort Wayne Newspapers Three Rivers Festival.

“It was the coolest thing watching them here building and planning,” said Patti Davis, preschool/youth coordinator at Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation.

As of Tuesday afternoon, nearly 300 votes had been collected.

Pack Rat's Mini-Mart supplied the LEGO sets and Hamilton Hunter Builders donated the cash prizes. Winners will be announced Friday after all votes are tallied. First place wins $100, second earns $75 and third takes home $50.

To vote, ask for a ballot at the information desk between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., choose among the 26 entries and place a vote in the LEGO-themed ballot box.
