Death of man on High Street ruled a homicide

Friday, July 19, 2013 - 3:06 pm

The death of a man whose body was reported and found Thursday in the back yard of a High Street residence has been ruled a homicide, with his identity being released Friday.

Kirk D. Lecount, 42, of Fort Wayne, died of blunt-force trauma to the head, according to a news release from the Allen County Coroner's Office. Lecount's autopsy was conducted Friday, and the ruling of homicide in his death brings Allen County's total to 26 for the year.

Initial investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department indicates that Lecount, who was a resident of the home at 1707 High St. where his body was found, was possibly involved in a disturbance that turned physical at some point on Wednesday evening. That disturbance had not previously been reported to authorities, according to the FWPD.

The investigation into Lecount's death is ongoing and is being conducted by the FWPD, the coroner's office, and the Allen County Prosecutor's Office.
