INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis art museum has received a $50,000 Freedom of Artistic Expression Award from the Andy Warhol Foundation. The foundation named for the artist said Monday the grant to the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art will support programs and exhibitions over the next two years at the art space located in the Fountain Square neighborhood southeast of downtown Indianapolis.

The foundation says the Contemporary Art Museum presents exhibitions that challenge audiences to engage with issues relevant to social, political, and artistic discourse. It says the museum also takes a strong stand in support of artists whose work pushes boundaries.

The Warhol Foundation since its founding in 1987 has sought to oppose censorship and support the creative vision of artists.
