Twinkie shortage in Fort Wayne?

The Kroger at 1125 W. State Blvd. on Monday had a sign that explained the limited supply of Hostess Brands goodies. Hostess Brands said last week that demand for its Twinkies and CupCakes was at a record high since the cream-filled spongy snack cakes and chocolate-frosted cupcakes returned to shelves July 15 after an eight-month absence. Hostess says sales of its products are seven times greater than historic levels. Orders are three to six times greater than its production capacity, even though it is running bakeries at maximum levels. Numerous retailers reported selling out of the snack cakes within hours of them being displayed. (Photo by Lisa Esquivel Long of The News-Sentinel)
