A third person involved in a crash that killed two men earlier this month on Interstate 69 north of Dupont Road has died.Tirek Tyrone Murphy, of Norman, Okla., died Tuesday night at Parkview Regional Medical Center of sepsis and respiratory failure related to his crash injuries, according to the Allen County coroner's office.

Blaine Miller died at the scene of the July 11 crash, and his grandson Jeff Shelmadine, died later at a hospital. Both had strong ties with Baer Field Speedway.

Miller owned a roadside assistance company, for which his grandson worked. They were helping with a white semi that was stopped on the side of the road when the semi was struck in the side by a driver hauling an empty car trailer at around 1:15 p.m. that day.

Murphy and a fourth person were taken to a hospital in critical condition. Allen County Sheriff's Department spokesman Cpl. Jeremy Tinkel said Murphy was the driver of the white semi. He didn't have information on the current condition of the fourth person.

The driver of the car hauler was uninjured.

Murphy's death was ruled an accident. His death is the 18th traffic fatality in Fort Wayne in 2013.

The case remains under investigation.
