The Indianapolis Colts announced today they have agreed in principle to a contract with first-round draft pick Bjoern Werner.
Werner was taken by the Colts out of Florida State with the No.24 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. He is the final draft pick to agree to a contract as the Colts prepare to open training camp this weekend at Anderson University.
Werner was named the ACC's Defensive Player of the Year and was a unanimous All-America first-team selection as a junior in 2012. In his final season with the Seminoles, Werner started 14 games and finished 13th in the nation with 13 sacks, while ranking second in the ACC with 18 tackles for loss. He also posted 42 tackles (30 solo), eight passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
The Colts' first public practice at Anderson is 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
