A special thank you to the Fort Wayne Ballet for their performances shared with the Fort Wayne Community this summer. The end of the year review highlighted the study of what was learned by students during the 2012-2013 class year.

On June 20 at Barr Street Market, the ballet presented Fort Wayne Ballet 11 with David Ingram, principal dancer, faculty and men’s program coordinator, and his friends in a unique program of dance and music. These talented young dancers and musicians kept the audience spellbound with one wondering what creative movement would be next. This was truly an outstanding performance and enjoyed by the hundreds of Fort Wayne residents who attended.

In a more recent performance at the conclusion of the ballet’s summer intensive program the artistry, grace and technical learning was highlighted not only by Fort Wayne Ballet Academy students but also by the students from various parts of the country who enrolled in this program for the past three weeks.

We in Fort Wayne are so fortunate to have an outstanding ballet company, under the direction of Karen Gibbons-Brown, executive artistic director and her staff.

An open house in the Auer Center will be held Aug. 17 for prospective students to tour the facility and enroll in classes for the upcoming season.

I urge all residents to support the ballet by purchasing tickets for the 2013-2014 season. If you have never seen the ballet perform, I truly believe you will be so impressed that we will see you again and again.
