City boy struck and killed by train in Ohio

A 12-year-old Fort Wayne boy died Sunday when he was struck by a train near Findlay, Ohio, at about 3 p.m. Sunday, our news partner, NewsChannel 15, reported.

The Courier newspaper in Findlay said the boy was accompanied by two other juveniles from Fort Wayne. Findlay, in Hancock County, is about 90 miles east of Fort Wayne.

The newspaper reported that the boy was asleep in the middle of the railroad tracks near Township Road 107 west of County Road 140 when an eastbound Norfolk Southern train struck him.

Personnel from the Hancock County Sheriff's Department were not available this morning to provide more details on the circumstances of the boy's death.
