Letter to the editor: I'm free to choose

I believe I have a natural right to associate with some people and a corollary right not to associate with others. I associate with people I like or respect. I do not freely associate with people I do not like or respect. I may be forced to work with people I don’t like or respect, but that is part of my job. I get paid to do it. My choice.

Segregation and integration both diminish or deny my personal right to choose my own companions and colleagues. Government agents and self-styled leaders show up stage left as spokespersons whose duty and privilege it is to slap down your human right and individual freedom to live and work wherever and with whomever you want. They do it in the name of some higher power and greater good, of course. But don’t believe it. And don’t give in without a fight.
