Letter to the editor: Editorial page is open forum for all views

Wednesday, August 14, 2013 - 12:01 am

What is so beautiful about the editorial page is that it is an open forum for all who believe in something. It is an arena of expression, which I don’t think Dorothy Helmeczi understands or wants to understand.

Topics such as creationism or evolution or personal faith or even abstract thoughts can and should be freely shared. That’s what the opinion section is for. No one should be ostracized for expressing a belief or personal ideology. Not all opinions are shared to share a “cause that needs time and attention.”

It appears that anger sometimes appears to be the catalyst for responses to opinion page articles. This should never be. The views of the populace are all valuable to this area of the newspaper and, God willing, they will continue to be. Thanks be to The News-Sentinel for this open door.
