Five people evacuated safely from apartment fire

An early morning fire resulted in moderate damage to an apartment complex.Firefighters were dispatched to 1927 Hazelwood Ave. around 4:09 a.m. to investigate a report of a fire at Stratford Place Apartments, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department. Upon arrival three minutes later, responders found fire coming from a window on the first floor.

Five people — two adults and three children — were evacuated from the apartment, while other units were also evacuated before the blaze was ruled under control at 4:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported, and the blaze resulted in moderate smoke, water and fire damage.
