Fort Wayne area police brief

Monday, August 26, 2013 - 6:30 am

An Illinois woman was injured after her SUV rolled over at 7:41 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 69.

The Greenville, Ill., woman was driving southbound on I-69 south of Indiana 8 at the 329 mile marker when she tried to change lanes but saw another vehicle in the space, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff's Department news release. She said she overcorrected to the right to avoid colliding with the other vehicle and lost control of the 2002 Mercury Mountaineer she was driving. Her vehicle then slid across the passing lane in a southeasterly direction, went off the east side of the road, and rolled several times on a cable strand barrier fence. It came to rest on its wheels on the east side of the barrier facing a northwesterly direction.

The victim complained of head, neck, and chest pain as well as some minor bleeding. She was taken by DeKalb EMS to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne for treatment.

The Auburn fire and police departments helped at the scene.
