The Rant is The News-Sentinel's anonymous sound-off forum. The readers' views expressed here do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of The News-Sentinel. To the four people in a well-known restaurant who thought it was OK to listen to a work conference call on your cellphone, you are a prime example of what is wrong in this country. When we made you aware it was disturbing to everyone, you just laughed.

Where in the world are the grocery stores getting beef these days? I can't remember the last time I had a piece of beef that wasn't tough, including the expensive cuts and the pre-seasoned quick-fix packages, too.

Thanks again to the crusty old biddy who rolled her eyes at me as I turned onto Ewing Street. You're advised to cross at the corner of the street, not the middle.

Why does it take three different aircraft to transport a family of four and their dog (President Obama and family) from our nation's capital to Martha's Vineyard?

Since the FWCS (Fort Wayne Community Schools) board has decided against use of our state's A-F grading system, they should use the grading system they developed for students a couple years ago. Just like the students, it would guarantee that no school would receive a failing grade.

If the American Indians had won and beaten off the European invaders, then people like Gen. Anthony Wayne would have been guilty of genocide and burned at the stake. Why do we honor this man? We owe the American Indians an apology and retribution.

Hey, county highway department: Who's supposed to mow horseweed along Old Monroeville Road beyond East Washington Street? They are a traffic hazard, as you can't seen traffic coming. Might cause a wreck.

Hey, state highway department: Nice that you changed the speed limit before the truck stop on Indiana 930, but signs are needed to tell truckers and other people how far to the truck stop. I don't like trucks pulling across all the lanes at the last minute to get to a turning lane.

Why can't the city fix the 600 blocks of Glazier and Kentucky avenues off of Parnell Avenue? It's been 60 years, and these streets are still chip-and-seal with no curbs or sewers.

Why, oh, why is it so hard to get attention from doctors when a patient is overmedicated? It is happening more often, so be sure you are not overmedicated when you have health problems.

Stop being negative. Go outside and watch children play, watch hummingbirds and squirrels play. Say thank you when some young person opens the door for some old person. Open the door for some young person if you're old. Let's all stop, take a breath and just chill.

Have you seen the show “Doomsday Preppers”? It is a roadmap to food and water when all heck breaks loose. Why are people so happy to put their whole lives on line for the world to see? What idiots. My gang will come for you and take everything that you have. You can't fix stupid.

To the person who doesn't think the citizens of Fort Wayne are asking to “build up the greenway,” think again. According to numerous surveys, street repairs and more greenway trails are the Nos. 1 and 2 most requested.
