Dog removed from home by Animal Control

Friday, August 30, 2013 - 4:19 pm

Fort Wayne Police are investigating the death of a woman found in a home by a relative Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the scene after the relative called 911 shortly after 1 p.m. today. The woman was dead when she was found in a home in the 5500 block of Myanna Lane.

Officers first to arrive on the scene were met by the family member, who directed them inside the residence where it was confirmed that the woman was dead. While inside, officers discovered and removed a family pet, a dog from the home. Animal Care and Control was called to the scene and removed the dog for safekeeping.

The Allen County Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy on Saturday to determine the identity of the woman and the cause and manner of her death.

This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner's Office and the Allen County Prosecutor's Office.
