Driver arrested after police chase reaches 110 mph in Kosciusko County

Monday, September 2, 2013 - 5:36 pm

Kosciusko County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a 19-year-old Mentone woman after an early Sunday morning pursuit and crash.

Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department deputies saw a vehicle going at a high rate of speed westbound on Winona Avenue at about 4:20 a.m. approaching the intersection of Zimmer Road, according to a news release. The vehicle disregarded the stop sign at the intersection and continued westbound as the sheriff's deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle continued to accelerate from the officer, reaching eventual speeds of 110 mph before it left the road near the 5500 block of West Crystal Lake Road.

The driver, identified as Destinee Nicole Robinson-Moore, was taken into custody and preliminarily charged with felony fleeing/resisting law enforcement with a vehicle along with reckless driving, minor consumption of alcohol and driving while suspended, according to the release. Warsaw City Police Department also assisted in the incident and determined that Robinson-Moore had struck a county road sign along with a mailbox during the pursuit.

Robinson-Moore was being held in lieu of a $2,000 bond in the Kosciusko County Jail.
