A man was in critical condition early Wednesday morning after he was beaten and found on a downtown Fort Wayne street.Fort Wayne Police were called at 3:56 a.m. to a battery in progress and found the victim lying in the middle of the 100 block of West Wayne Street. He was bleeding and unresponsive, according to FWPD spokesman Officer Jason Anthony.

Paramedics took the victim, who was not identified by police, to a local hospital in serious condition, but his condition was downgraded to critical by a physician at the hospital.

This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD and the prosecutor’s office.
