Rees 'proud' of team in second half

Sunday, September 15, 2013 01:22 am
WEST LAFAYETTE - Notre Dame senior quarterback Tommy Rees spoke with the media following his team's 31-24 victory at Purdue on Saturday. Here were his thoughts on the victory."We needed to settle down and start making some plays and help the team win, and that is exactly what we did as an offense.

"I'm proud of the way the guys started in the second half.""We were just getting in and out and getting some of the checks down sooner. We knew what they were trying to do, and Purdue had a great game plan, and they started mixing up some of their calls."

"I'm proud of our whole team and how they fought in the second half.""We'll do whatever it takes to win. Our receivers did great after the catch. Hats off to them, the protections been great all year.

"We'll keep throwing if that's what needs to happen, and we're just excited with the win.""It felt great to battle back and to have the type of character and the type of mentality that we had.

"I'm proud of every player in that locker room.""That was obviously a huge turn in the game and got us up by two scores (Notre Dame scored three touchdowns in less than four minutes).

"They were big plays, and we knew we had to come out and make big plays offensively and defensively, and we answered."
