Conservative columnist Linda Chavez agrees with the liberal editors of The Washington Post that the Obama Doctrine in the Middle East has produced “morally crimped, hope-crushing foreign policy.” (News-Sentinel, Oct. 1) She opines that “The Obama Doctrine” will do much harm to U.S. prestige and leadership in the world. But that may be its aim.” I am beginning to think that gets to the heart of the matter. It is unlikely our president would make such mistakes so consistently by accident. No, I have to believe he acts intentionally, on the basis of premises and goals most Americans do not share. He believes America was founded as a racist and greedy nation that must be radically reconstituted.

If the new America cannot be achieved by propaganda and lies, then it will have to rise from the ashes of conflict and conflagration. Whatever it takes is just, right and true enough for now.

Someone can be wrong without intending to deceive. The president, however, intends to deceive in order to wield political power. Deceit works for him.
