Letter to the editor: AP story biased against Republicans

Monday, October 21, 2013 - 8:44 am

It was very disappointing to read the Associated Press’ liberal-biased article in the Oct. 14 News-Sentinel entitled “DC crowd busts barriers to the WWII Memorial.”

Examples of lies in the article are: “Cruz and Lee are among the tea party-backed lawmakers who refused to keep the government operating unless the president agreed to defund the nation’s health care overhaul.”

The fact is they wanted a delay in the implementation of the health care plan like the president gave to big business and to include the lawmakers in the plan. Currently they are exempt. Really fair, huh!

Another statement in the article, “Sunday rally was more political.” I suppose the closing of memorials that are open all the time with no staff is not political.

The House made numerous proposals to keep the government from shutting down, all of which were rejected by the president and Harry Reid. Their whole agenda is spending, spending and more spending. The “radical” tea party wants to balance the budget and spend responsibly. I guess that is a really radical idea.
