Thursday night fire in mobile home results in deaths of two pets

A fire in a mobile home Thursday night resulted in the deaths of two pets.

Firefighters from the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a report of a mobile home fire at 2737 W. Washington Center Road, Lot 318, at 9:12 p.m., according to a news release. They arrived six minutes later and found the mobile home fully ablaze and were told that eight animals were inside.

Crews fought the fire while attempting to get inside and locate the pets, but two of them were found dead, the release said. The fire was deemed under control at 9:31 p.m.

Two people self-evacuated from the mobile home, which sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage.

No other injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
