The Rant is The News-Sentinel’s anonymous sound-off forum. The readers’ views expressed here do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of The News-Sentinel. If (U.S. Rep. Marlin) Stutzman can answer these questions without asking for help, then he can use the term “American people.” If not, then be quiet. How much does a gallon of milk, loaf of bread or a pound of hamburger cost? How many taxes come out of someone’s paycheck who is working 40 hours at minimum wage?

Whoever are we hiring to patch the roadwork on North Anthony Boulevard and Crescent Avenue is doing a horrible job. At least put up some signs warning motorists that they risk damage to their vehicles if they drive over the areas!

(U.S. Rep. Marlin) Stutzman says Obamacare is expensive and a job killer. Why then did he want a shutdown that cost $50 billion and lost 300,000 jobs? And now he still voted to keep the government closed. Who the heck voted for this small-minded man? You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

The only difference between the tea party and the Taliban is that the tea party wears suits. They want to impose their will on the majority who don’t want it no matter who they hurt along the way. Government closure is as bad as a car bomb going off on the American people.

Thank you, Mr. (Ted) Cruz and Mr. (Marlin) Stutzman. You are the best thing to happen to the Democrats since Bill Clinton. 2016 will be one party rule, it won’t be Republican.

Mr. Stutzman voted no to save our economy but voted yes to save the Community Harvest Food Bank. So he will sacrifice the working man for the welfare state. Isn’t this again the tea party principles? This man does not have a clue to what people like him are doing to America.

I just wonder about the writers condemning e-cigarettes. Do you drink coffee? Then you are an addict. Caffeine is the most addictive drug in the world today. Did you have a cup or two to start your day? … You are addicted if you can’t go one week without coffee.

It’s so sad that there is so much hatred in the United States, and it’s even sadder that much of it comes from people who claim to be followers of Jesus.

Why is it that our government can send over $1 billion to Pakistan but wants to cut aid to our needy American citizens?

The grocery store that says it reduced prices can fool some of the people some of the time but not all the people all the time.

All you Republican voters, remember who you voted for next time around. They made a fool of America. We may have been No. 1, but that is long gone.

If immigrants want more rights, do what they need to do to become citizens — like learning to speak, write and talk English. My father did and was very proud!

Leaf pickup has begun and yet the leaves have yet to fall. Wouldn’t it have made more sense for the city to delay this year’s leaf pickup by two weeks? What a waste of time, money and resources!

Who’s looking out for the little horses? Indianapolis “Colts” need to change their name.

If Redskins go, real cowboys are now upset and now the descendants of the Vikings are upset. It never ends, folks.

$5 million for job readiness, skill development and scholarships? What good is that going to do? What they should spend that $5 million legacy money on is job development. You can have all the skill and education that matters but, if there isn’t any job, what good is it?

Why is … (a local social-service agency) always wanting money, and they bring in clients from northwest Indiana that take more money? They don’t have enough staff to service northeast Indiana.

Everywhere, people on bicycles should wear clothing that is visible daytime and nighttime, like bright clothing that county and highway workers do. It would keep accidents from happening.
