Letter to the editor: law of the land

We keep hearing this about Obamacare that it’s “the law if the land” and can’t be touched or changed. Really? Prior to 1920, it was against the law for women to vote. But that law was overturned. More Republican senators approved of this than Democrats. Prior to 1870, it was against the law for anyone other than white to vote. It was the law of the land. But it was wrong and it was changed. Republicans were the champions if this while Democrats opposed it. Prohibition was the “law of the land” until 1933 with the adoption of the 21st Amendment.

So how can the left keep hiding behind “it’s the law of the land” rhetoric? Obamacare can be changed, amended or obliterated. We, the people, have the power. Washington must be forced to work for and represent us! Your vote is your power. Your emails, phone calls, letters and voices are your power. Use them.
