Local briefs: Isch services set for Saturday

The funeral service for racing promoter Tom Isch will be 1 p.m. Saturday, with viewing from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Waynedale Baptist Church, 639 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne.Sara Miller from Blackhawk Christian signed with Grace College on Thursday afternoon to play volleyball.The Indiana Tech ice hockey team announced another signing on Thursday afternoon as Fort Wayne native Chad Swartz signed his letter of intent. Swartz will join Matt Hughes, Ian Massionneuve and Jarrett Pfeiffer as part of head Coach Frank DiCristofaro's 2014-15 inaugural season. The 6-foot, 180-pound defensemen has three goals and eight assists through the first 15 games this season with the Fort Wayne Federals. The Homestead High School graduate has spent the past two seasons with the Federals, tallying three goals, 31 assists and 209 penalty ice minutes.

“Swartz has good puck moving ability and sees the ice very well,” DiCristofaro said. “I like the way he works the back line and especially like his chemistry with Maisonneuve on the current Federals roster. Swartz will add skill and depth to our defensive corps next season.”

DiCristofaro continues to search and recruit student-athletes to fill a Division II and Division III ACHA roster for the 2014-15 season. If you are interested in playing for the Warriors, please contact coach DiCristofaro.
