Gen. 2:7, “And the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living being.”Is man the only living being on Earth? Is an animal a living being? I don’t think so. They don’t know that they are existing. They don’t’ know that they will die. Man, to a certain extent, controls his life. An animal only lives by instinct. Only man has a conscience. How did he get this conscience? By eating from the Tree of Good and Evil!

Yes, God knew that man would disobey his command. And by disobeying God’s command, man instantly felt guilt. That developed man’s conscience. Before that man had no conscience. Every child ever born had to be corrected for disobedience to receive a conscience. Without a conscience, man would have only been a superior animal.

That is the death God meant would happen. Man lost his innocence and became a responsible, decision making human being.

And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil.”

Richard Kranifeld
