Letter to the editor: Beliefs may prevent your employment

Do you firmly believe you’re obligated as a Christian to put obedience to God’s law above human law? This question was asked an applicant of the Indiana Bar in 2010. Do you see a conflict with our Constitution? How would you have answered the question? The applicant has been denied an opportunity to sit for the examination for five years.
Do you realize that you must have a state license to cut hair, do nails, drive your car, teach school, be an electrician or a host of other professions and that your thoughts and words and answers may prevent you from doing what you are otherwise qualified for? It can all depend upon the political bent of the inquirer.
This is not right, it is not lawful. However, it is practiced by our judicial system.
