Thank you to whomever paid for our lunch on Veterans Day at the Richard's restaurant in Bluffton. It was such a wonderful surprise.
To the person who paid for a meal for a group of seniors from Bethany United Methodist Church at Cracker Barrel at Chapel Ridge on Nov. 13: We were all flabbergasted! None of us had ever had that happen previously. There are some wonderful people in Fort Wayne, and we were fortunate to be the beneficiaries of one of them.
God bless you for your kindness and generosity. That experience will always be a happy memory.
Many tips of the hat to Susan (Berghoff) Prowant, board member and historian of our Central Catholic High School Alumni Association, for her fantastic job on our “Fighting Irish” 2013-2014 new season page brochure. Thanks, Susan!
Cheers!: To the 352 volunteers who helped plant 254 trees at the 12th Great Tree Canopy Comeback event held Nov. 2 and to our sponsors AEP, The Journal Gazette Foundation, NIPSCO and Steel Dynamics; our partners — Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, New Haven Parks, Allen County Parks, Pembroke Bakery; to the many park staff who helped prep the sites and plant the trees; and the scores of donors who contributed financially to purchase the trees.
Trees were planted at seven sites in Allen County, including Buckner Park, Northside Park, Shoaff Golf Course and Park, Moser Park in New Haven, Metea County Park and street trees in Shoaff Park River Estates. We couldn't have done it without you!
