Freshman makes off-the-bench impact

Sunday, December 8, 2013 - 12:58 am

BLOOMINGTON – Stanford Robinson's career game came with this thought -- the Indiana freshman is just now figuring out his potential.

Robinson grabbed a career-high eight rebounds, plus added six points, two assists and two steals to help the Hoosiers (7-2) beat North Florida 89-68 Saturday night.

Robinson's off-the bench contributions were a big part in IU's ability to bounce back from last Tuesday's loss at No. 4 Syracuse.

Here are some of his thoughts after the game:

On the impact of the bench

“Coach (Tom Crean) preaches that a lot of teams don't have a bench they can go to. So you see a lot of teams playing seven players, six players, a game. It's important for our bench not to drop off from what our starters are doing. When we come in with a strong bench, it's like having five more starters on the floor.”

On the importance of ball movement

“Basically it was moving the ball and getting the defense moving. We got good shots. That was our big focus point today.”

Are you getting more comfortable attacking the paint?

“That has always been my game. I feel like, once I'm in the open court, they it's just get to the rim as fast as you can.”
