Briefs: WFWA offers 'Downton Abbey' new season sneak peak

Thursday, December 12, 2013 - 12:01 am

‘Downton Abbey’ sneak peek

Local public television station WFWA, PBS39, will present a free sneak preview of the new season of hit British drama “Downton Abbey” at 7 p.m. Dec. 29 at the Embassy Theatre, 121 W. Jefferson Blvd. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The preview will include the first hour of the first episode of Season 4 of the series, which centers around a British country estate and the upper-crust family and their staff who live there. Season 4 shows begin Jan. 5 on PBS.

In conjunction with the preview, WFWA also will hold a Premiere Tea Party at 4 p.m. in the adjacent Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St. The fundraising event for the TV station will be set up as if for a traditional British high tea.

People who want to dress in 1920s garb for the tea party or sneak preview are encouraged to do so. Admission to the tea party is $100 per ticket, which also includes preferred seating for the “Downton” sneak preview at the Embassy Theatre. Premiere Tea Party tickets are available by contacting WFWA's Kelly Hardesty at kellyhardesty@ wfwa.org or at 471-5363.
