The former executive director of Allen County's Community Corrections department received the Sagamore of the Wabash award from State Sen. President Pro Tem David Long, R-Fort Wayne, Thursday. Hudson retired this week after 28 years with the agency, which provides a variety of services related to offenders under the supervision of Allen Superior and Circuit courts. Hudson supervises a $6 million budget and 95 employees.

The state bestows the honor in recognition of distinguished service.

Under Hudson, the department began many new programs, including the Kelley House, a residential and treatment center for male offenders dealing with substance abuse and mental-health issues.
