IPFW's Spencer honored

IPFW junior volleyball player Emily Spencer has made North All-Region Honorable Mention by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Spencer, an outside hitter, is the second straight Mastodon to make honorable mention. Tessa McGill did it last year.Spencer also was named to the Summit League All-League team. She ranks seventh in IPFW history with 1,504 kills and 14th with 1,027 digs.

During the regular season Spencer tied a Summit League record by winning five Offensive Player of the Week awards. She led the Summit League with 4.68 kills per set. She was second in points per set at 5.31, and 13th with a .243 hitting percentage. She ranks sixth in NCAA Division I in points per set and eighth in kills per set.

The North Region team consisted of 14 players, all from Big Ten schools, plus six honorable mentions. Spencer is the 13th IPFW player to earn AVCA All-Region honors, but just the second since the Mastodons moved to Division I.
