Police chase ends with crash into house
A police chase ended Monday morning when the fleeing driver lost control and crashed into a house.
Fort Wayne Police said an officer tried to stop the car about 3:30 a.m. because it was speeding and driving recklessly. Police told our partner in news, NewsChannel 15, that the driver at first slowed down before trying to flee.
The chase only lasted only a few minutes before the car failed to make it through a turn onto another street and went through a front yard and into a house on the city's south side. Officers said the house appeared vacant.
Police said the driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Investigators say a gun and a small amount of marijuana were found inside the car.
Man seriously injured in shooting
A man was left in serious condition after a shooting at 3:53 a.m. Saturday at the Hard Hitters Club on Avondale Drive.
According to a report from the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers found a man lying outside the front door of the club with what appeared to be a gunshot to his leg.
A trail of blood led up to and inside the front door of the establishment. Police followed the trail through the room and saw large pools of blood. People inside the club said they had all heard a shot, but no one saw what had happened.
The victim was taken to a local hospital.
Another victim, a woman, was reported, but it later turned out she had fallen to the ground due to intoxication. Her friend, thinking she had been shot, was taking her to the hospital when police caught up with them and discovered the woman was merely intoxicated.
